The Role:

We are looking for a passionate and driven Designer with extensive experience in a high street retail/fashion brand to join us and be an integral part of our dresses team. With a finger on the pulse of the latest trends at all times, this individual will be eager to bring forward new ideas and jump straight in. Reporting into the Senior Designer you will be responsible for designing and developing a commercial range of must have dresses!

Design
• Identifying key items, newness and opportunities within the dresses department – including updates of best sellers, core lines, seasonal fashion and fashion newness, showing how this can translate for the customer.
• Presenting focused trend overviews from catwalks, online, shopping trips and social media.
• Researching the latest product, colour and fabric trends with an eye for new details.
• A strong eye for print, colour, fabric and shape.
• The ability to be reactive in developing the latest trends to ensure we are offering frequent newness to the customer.
• Working with the buying team to build commercial and fashion forward ranges that offer the customer the best assortment of product both in store and on e-com.
• Excellent organizational skills and time management to meet critical path deadlines.
• Researching trends and sketching new shapes to review with Senior Designer.
• Ability to deliver clear and detailed tech packs for factories with a thorough approach to avoid mistakes.
• Daily overseas communication and management of development samples to meet deadlines.
• Working with the wider design team to collaborate on new ideas and possible opportunities within the business.
• Completing and reporting back on New Look store visits and competitor shopping across retail and e-com.
• Having a positive attitude and ability to keep up with a fast-paced environment.
• Able to take constructive feedback, to learn and grow with the business.
• Willingness to take on new responsibilities and ownership through additional roles and responsibilities.

Team  
• Working with the wider dresses team, including buying and merchandising to ensure we deliver the strongest ranges possible and a department strategy that reflects the business.
• The ability to be versatile and chip in to help other departments if and when required. 
• Collaborating with Design team to create trend presentations and seasonal previews to present to the wider business.

About You:

Technical Skills
• Excellent knowledge of adobe packages including photoshop, illustrator and indesign.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge of product including construction, fabric, fit and techniques.
• Solid presentation skills
• Passion is essential!
• Customer knowledge and a strong commercial eye.
• Excellent team working skills and a willingness to go the extra mile
• Good interpersonal / communication skills
• Ability to initiate, build and maintain relationships with Design, Buying, and Suppliers 

Knowledge and Experience

• Previous experience as a Womenswear Designer within a high street retail/fashion brand preferably working on dresses or softs departments.
• Proven experience in successfully driving overall trend direction including key items, colour, fabric and ways to wear.
• Experience working closely with external short and long lead suppliers (specifically Far east, Indian, Turkish and UK suppliers).
• Knowledge of woven and jersey product
• Proven experience in presenting seasonal trend direction to buying, design, merchandising and directors.

Minimum level of education or qualifications
• Fashion Design Qualification ideally at degree level in print or relevant experience.
