The Team

If you are looking for a career change or just starting out in the world of work, this could be the role for you.  The Health and Safety team are looking to make an addition to their office based team in Weymouth supporting our stores and offices across the country.  We’re also interested in hearing from anyone that has had previous H&S experience.  The role is a diverse one so you will need to be able to juggle priorities, have good organisation skills and work on our own as well as a team.  

We are a can-do team with the primary aim to work with all departments across the business to ensure that what they want to do can be done safely.   This means that as well as routine H&S tasks and dealing with store queries on a day to day basis no 2 days are the same.  If you are eager to learn, have an attention to detail, comfortable with using online tools and a good communicator we’d like to hear from you.  Full training and support will be provided.

The Role:

This is an entry level role for someone interested in Health and Safety, supporting the existing team, with the opportunity for development.
 
Provide support for the Health & Safety team
• Providing information and reports from data received across the business.
• Assist with arranging and documenting any H&S training arrangements.
• Monitoring and logging of accidents/incidents. Develop into carrying out detailed analysis and feeding data into Health & Safety policies and procedures to prevent re-occurrences.
• Maintain the road safety data base
• Support business initiatives to drive performance and protect brand.

Responsibilities will be introduced progressively and supported with learning and coaching:

• Accident logging, management, investigation, and prevention. Support Health & Safety Officer with reporting of relevant accidents to appropriate authorities. Role with develop into including in depth analysis of route cause and feeding through into policies, procedures and risk assessments. Send customer accidents/incidents to Customer Services to make courtesy calls and track feedback.
• Support Health & Safety Officer with providing guidance for general Health & Safety queries from employees and Company departments.
• Arrange any necessary Health and Safety training ensure adequate cover according to legislation as a minimum standard, and maintain the central training record.
• Assist Health & Safety Officer with producing reports to Health and Safety Manager on compliance, audit results, accident statistics, and other relevant records, including actions as a result of information.
• Liaise with Property department to ensure Health & Safety issues in Retail and Offices are reviewed and followed through to ensure employee/customer welfare.
• Maintain employee information and documentation on ‘Buzz’ for Retail, ‘iLook’ for Offices.
• Supporting writing of new retail material to be delivered by Divisional Safety Managers.
• Provide documents/evidence to the Group Insurance Team to support with claims handling process.
• Maintain road safety database to ensure all documents are up to date for all company drivers and ensure action plans are in place for any high risk drivers to prevent injury/fatality.
• Provide support to Group Health & Safety Manager to implement and maintain agreed processes and procedures within the Group.
• Day to day management of Safe Contractor.
• Support Health & Safety Officer with completion of COSHH risk assessments for NL Product and cleaning products.

About You:

• NEBOSH certificate would be desirable but not essential however will be a requirement for the role to support learning and to develop into a qualified role.
• Ability to communicate (written and verbal) on a number of levels to ensure policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Awareness and successful interaction with all other functional departments to achieve joint results. 
• Good level of Excel understanding and willingness to develop with support of Health & Safety Officer.
