The Role:

You will work within a central Enterprise PMO providing project and programme guidance and support across the business wide portfolio. You will work with Project and Programme Managers from different areas of the business to deliver projects effectively from mobilisation through to benefits realisation. Your role will ensure that projects are delivered using the most appropriate methodology within the agreed ways of working and advise Project/Programme Managers of how to adhere to the necessary processes and procedures required by the EPMO’s standards. You will be responsible for delivering the required management information on your areas of the portfolio to ensure accurate and timely information is input into Portfolio level decisions on priority, progress and risk.

Key Responsibilities:

Functional Knowledge –
• Understanding of a variety of different Project Methodologies is required, couple with the ability to tailor them to an organisation or individual business unit’s specific needs
• Demonstrable experience of working within a range of projects or methodologies
• A broad understanding of PMO functions, processes and techniques is essential
• Understanding of financial control processes necessary to deliver projects and manage costs/benefits is required
• Extensive Excel skills are required for the consolidation, manipulation and summarising of a range of information to inform analysis and reporting
• Analytical skills coupled with the ability to effectively summarise and present findings/recommendations and in appropriate format are required
• Ability to understand and communicate current processes to project teams, whilst tailoring them to the needs of the individual project or stakeholders based on functional expertise

Business Expertise –
• Experience of working in one or more PMO roles is required
• Experience of delivering projects in a Retail business or similarly fast-paced environment is preferable

Leadership –
• You will not have line management responsibilities in this role but will play an active part in the development of your peers and juniors in the EPMO team in their training and understanding of your specialist areas of experience. This will likely extend to some element of supervision of their inputs
• You will guide various Project Managers and wider project team members through the EPMO’s requirements and processes to support the successful delivery of their initiatives 

Problem Solving –
• You will take an active role in the development and ongoing improvement of processes and standards. You will identify the most appropriate route within the framework for projects in your area to follow whilst identifying opportunities to improve the framework itself
• You will use your judgement to tailor activities within your projects to balance the successful delivery with the needs of the organisation around controls, compliance and accurate management information
• You will have to be able to adapt and innovate based on the needs of the Portfolio and changes to the organisations you are supporting
• You will need to be able to combine and understand structured and un/semi-structured information sufficiently to summarise and communicate your view of different situations and problems as they occur

Nature of Impact –
• The guidance and support you provide the project teams will influence the effectiveness of their delivery. Projects will vary in scale from c.£10k to over £2m
• The completeness and accuracy of the information provided on your areas of the portfolio will directly influence the decisions made at a senior, cross-director level in terms of prioritisation, approval and assessment of projects’ performance following completion
• Within your area of responsibility your work and the information you provide will impact planning and decisions on headcount, 3rd party spend and organisational structures

Area of Impact –
• The EPMO provides project services across the entire business. You will be working with Managers and Heads of from various areas across the business as and when projects are required
• As well as providing generalist support to different areas of the business as required, you will also specialise in one or more key areas with high volumes of project activity to provide continuity and any necessary tailoring to the business area you are supporting

Interpersonal Skills/Key Relationships –

• You will work collaboratively with the EPMO Manager, Head of PMO and other project delivery roles across the business to continuously improve and adapt New Look’s project methodology
• You will work closely with Project and Programme Managers to help them understand New Look’s methodologies and processes to ensure they are delivering
• You will be able to understand, interpret and summarise management information on the projects in your area/s to support Steering Committees attended by Director Sponsors and Heads of from across the business
• You will support other roles within the EPMO with your subject matter expertise, assisting the development of the more junior analysts

• You will be a confident communicator across structured and unstructured situations
• You will need to be able to prioritise your tasks in collaboration with the EPMO Manager and using your own judgement based on the situation in front of you
• You will be able to adapt to changing priorities and issues as they arise
• You will be an effective influencer, able to collaborate with different project teams/stakeholders and ensure they follow appropriate processes and governance
• You will be expected to think objectively and represent the interests of the organisation and its objectives in challenging situations which might arise during the delivery of various projects
